Emergency Program Coordinator

 
2 FULL-TIME POSITIONS
 
The Cariboo Regional District invites qualified applicants to apply for two permanent, full-time positions of Emergency Program Coordinator located at the Cariboo Regional District office in Williams Lake.
 
SUMMARY: Reporting directly to the Manager of Emergency Programs, the Emergency Program Coordinator will be responsible for the planning, coordination, evaluation, and improvement of the Regional Emergency Management Program. The Emergency Program Coordinator (EPC) provides expert advice on emergency plans and programing and implements direction from the Manager of Emergency Programs. This position supports and assists the Regional District’s emergency management structure by liaising with volunteer organizations, outside agencies, external contractors, and CRD staff to ensure implementation and improvement of plans and training. During emergency events, the EPC takes a key role in the Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) activation.
 
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS/REQUIREMENTS:

  • A certificate, diploma, or degree from a recognized post-secondary institution in emergency management or a related discipline that includes courses in emergency planning, response, and hazard and risk assessment, is required.
  • A minimum of 5 years’ directly related experience is required.
  • Must maintain a valid BC Driver’s license.
  • Experience and knowledge of local government legislation and applicable legal principles as well as Statutes and Regulations related to the role, including the BC Emergency Program Act is essential.
  • Experience in developing and delivering comprehensive training packages including evaluation mechanisms is an asset.
  • Experience with volunteer program management is preferred.
  • Experience in emergency management in a local government organization is preferred.

 
WAGE: This is a BCGEU position. The terms of this position include a wage of $43.96 per hour.
 
WORK SITE LOCATION: Cariboo Regional District Williams Lake Office located at Suite D, 180  3rd Avenue North, Williams Lake, BC. Travel within the regional district will be required.
 
HOURS OF WORK: 70 bi-weekly hours; may be required to work a non-standard schedule and unexpected overtime to respond to emergencies. This role will be part of the emergency callout phone list and will carry the Emergency Duty Phone during peak emergency periods or as needed to support CRD emergency services.
